Nestled on a tranquil side street off Madison Square, this intimate five-story building serves as a gatehouse to a slender residential tower rising behind it. The design draws inspiration from the neighborhood's finest architectural elements, seamlessly blending detail, craft, and scale. The façade, meticulously crafted to harmonize with the historically rich fabric of the block, creates a warm and inviting sense of arrival for residents.

The building's exterior is adorned with staggered vertical fins made of custom glazed terra cotta, which not only screen the interior spaces but also add depth and dimensionality to the façade. The creamy glazing's variegated hues exude warmth and distinction, setting the building apart from its limestone-faced neighbors. These subtle variations in color and texture create a captivating interplay of light and shadow, with the façade reflecting and moving light in unique patterns throughout the day.

Attention to detail extends beyond the façade, with carefully conceived elements designed to appeal to the human senses and elevate the experience of coming home. A travertine forecourt leads to the building's entrance, where custom bronze and glass doors welcome residents and visitors alike. These thoughtful touches contribute to the overall sense of arrival and reinforce the building's role as a gateway to the residential tower beyond.

Through its harmonious blend of materials, textures, and scales, this gatehouse building pays homage to the neighborhood's architectural heritage while creating a distinctive and inviting presence. It stands as a testament to the power of design to enhance the daily rituals of life and provide a warm, welcoming sense of home.
